Venlo, The Netherlands, 14 April 2008 — With the Asia market rollout of its flagship digital press, the Océ ColorStream 10000, Dutch digital printing group Océ is set to reinforce its position on the burgeoning Asia market and capture greater market share. The color digital press for the Graphic Arts is making its debut appearance in Asia on 14 April 2008, when Océ will present the system to distribution partners and customers at its Asia Distributors’ Conference in Taiwan. 

PIRA, the print industry’s leading research institute, predicts that Asia’s print market will grow 50 per cent by 2010. The market for digital printing hardware is estimated to expand by around 15 per cent, making Asia second only to Eastern Europe in terms of market growth: by 2012, the Chinese market alone is expected to be worth € 50 billion – substantially larger than e.g. the German market, which will account for sales of € 30 billion.

First, revenues from the sale of printers increased organically by 6%, partly due to our successful partnerships. On the back of this good sales performance, Océ has gained market share in wide format, color and high volume cutsheet printing. Boca Raton, FL, April 1, 2008 – The School District of Palm Beach County and Océ North America announced today that the BankAtlantic Foundation has contributed $2,500 and the Lawrence A. Sanders Foundation $5,000 toward the Océ Future Authors Writing Project to help underwrite expenses for summer writing workshops. 

The program, which is being offered for the third year, includes a free eight-day summer workshop designed to help students experience becoming published authors.  Students learn how to improve their writing skills, gain hands-on understanding of how authors are published, and learn about today’s digital print and publishing opportunities.

Students gain insight into the process of writing, editing, and digitally publishing books through interactions with Océ executives, as well as published authors, who speak to the students.  The day-long sessions are taught by certified Palm Beach County teachers.  Writings from each student are then compiled and digitally printed in final book form by Boca Raton-based Océ North America Production Print Division.  The book is unveiled at a book signing hosted by the Barnes & Noble Boca Raton store.
