Nashua, N.H., March 10, 2008 - eCopy™, Inc., a provider of document imaging solutions that integrate paper documents into business software applications, today announced the City Attorney’s office in Torrance, Calif. has won an AIIM Best Practices award in the “small company category” for their use of eCopy document imaging software. AIIM presented eCopy and the City of Torrance with the award at the annual AIIM awards celebration in conjunction with the AIIM Conference and Exposition in Boston, Mass.AIIM, the international authority on Enterprise Content Management (ECM), established the Carl E. Nelson Best Practices Award to recognize excellence in the ECM field. The term “Best Practice” denotes a standard of excellence that has been achieved within an organization and refers to a process that can be quantified, adapted, and repeated.
Before adding an electronic document management system, the City believed it was an easy “mark” by plaintiff attorneys since the City was often incapable of using in-house attorneys to defend itself against even patently frivolous lawsuits due to document handling inefficiencies. To resolve this issue, the City Attorney’s Office decided to go digital. It combined eCopy document scanning software with the City’s Interwoven document management and RainMaker Summit case management systems.
